Throwing Rocks

Max stood at the edge of the lake in wolf form, chucking stones over the lake while cursing herself for being so damned ugly and out of place. She didnt belong with the humans, the land animals or even the birds. She belonged absolutely nowhere thanks to those jackasses that experimented on her all those years ago.

Zero was laying at the base of the lakes blue waters and yawned loudly as he looked up at the darkening sky and narrowed his eyes as he heard a noise and his ear twitched.

She chucked one more especially hard, making it splash into the water instead of skiffing it. She growled in aggrivation and jumped gracefully onto one of the rocks further out in the water, looking down at her reflection.

He rolled onto his side quickly and stared at the animalistic featured person from what he could see far out there. "..Hm.."

She felt hot tears prick her eyes as she stared at her relfection. "I hate this...I hate these ears," She said as she touched her ears. "I hate these wings," She glanced at her back over her shoulder. "I hate this tail," She said as she sighed and shook her head. "My parents mustve really despised me to give me away right after birth,"

He watched the person closely and made mental notes of they're actions to try and figure out what type of person they were. He couldn't get a good view from this angle so he subtly got up and moved to another angle.

Her ears twitched as she heard something move but thought nothing of it, dismissing it for a deer or something. She wiped her eyes on her sleeve and looked up at the clouds. "Looks like its gonna rain soon...Where should i rest tonight...?"

The rain was beginning to fall and he knew the person would soon find shelter and he would lose track of them. He had to approach them right now. He jumped out from his hiding place onto a nearby rock "You, Who are You"

She let out a miniscule gasp and turned around on the rock to face him swiftly. When she saw it wasnt those men who plagued her dreams, she relaxed. "I'm Max...And who are you?"

"...Im Zero.." he muttered softly and put his thumb to his chin trying to think what race she was.

She saw his questioning look and her gaze dropped sadly.
"Dont bother trying to figure out what i am, even i dont know...I was originally human,"
She sighed.

"..I See.." he muttered "Well..I'd rather not know what I was"

She looked at him, her eyes scanning him quickly as she sniffed the air, most likely trying to determine his scent.
"What are you..?"

"...Im A Demon of course" he muttered and moved the hair from his eyes showing deep bright green eyes

Her ears perked up as she tilted her head.
"A...Demon?"
Her frame continued to stay mildly relaxed.
"I've never met a demon before. Your scent isnt nearly as bad as some of the neko or kitsune,"

"Well..Not all demons are that bad" he muttered

"I know, i didnt say you were bad."
She blinked.
"In fact, i'm quite pleased to meet you. Its good to finally have someone talk to me instead of look at me like i'm some sorta freak,"

"..a Freak?" he muttered "Whats there thats freakish about ya?"

"Well..Uh.."
She cleared her throat.
"I'm not just part wolf...I'm part bird too so i have wings...When i dont try to hide what i am, people who see me are freaked out so they hate me. Some are even frightened,"
Her ears drooped.

"Your Not very frightening" he muttered "I've seen much scarier things, but your one of the more gentle looking people"

"Thats what i thought, but apparently i was wrong. I try to keep away from people now, in case i cause a disturbance. I just wanna live, but i cant even do that in peace,"

"Perhaps..but in this world..you think of yourself first.."

She shook her head and looked at him, her midnight black eyes watching him.
"Sometimes you feel the need to put others before yourself..."

"Not Me..." he muttered

"You never know, you just havent felt it yet,"
She pointed out.
"I was told all about those emotions by the others who were experimented on. They were older than i was so they had seen more of the outside world. They explained that even the coldest of people could care,"
